SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte strengthens the media law team at its Frankfurt office. Effective April 1, 2019, copyright and media law expert Götz Schneider-Rothhaar will join SKW Schwarz as a partner.

Jointly with lawyer Esther Noske, Götz Schneider-Rothhaar comes from the law firm of Fuhrmann Wallenfels, whose Frankfurt office he co-founded in 2009. As a media lawyer, he works in almost all areas of the entertainment and marketing trades, representing companies and individuals nationwide and internationally in music, TV, Internet, advertising, photography, design, franchising, online trade, distribution, branding, and licenses on all issues relating to digital content exploitation and marketing. In addition, his practice focuses on collecting societies (such as GEMA, GVL, VG Wort, etc.), press matters, including image protection and word reporting relating to well-known individuals and celebrities, as well as legal support for sports and cultural events. Esther Noske joined the Götz Schneider-Rothhaar team in 2009 and works on cases in trademark law, competition law, copyright law and media law.

“With a continually expanding team, SKW Schwarz offers clients in the media and entertainment sectors genuine full service. We are very pleased to further strengthen the media law practice, one of our traditional core competences,” said Norbert Klingner, Head of Media and Entertainment at SKW Schwarz.

“Götz Schneider-Rothhaar is an extremely experienced, established professional who also advises internationally and perfectly complements the professional spectrum of our Frankfurt office. Due to his particular expertise in marketing and exploitation rights, he will be a highly valuable advisor to our clients,” added Michael Wahl, Frankfurt Site Manager.

Götz Schneider-Rothhaar commented on his move as follows: “SKW Schwarz is one of Germany’s leading law firms for copyright and media law and the entire IP sector. It is both a pleasure and a challenge for us to support the widely diversified and dynamically developing media and entertainment practice with my team, which will result in numerous synergies for the benefit of our clients.”

To date, at SKW Schwarz’s Frankfurt office, media law has been mainly covered by Dr. Magnus Hirsch, who, in addition to trademark law also advises in copyright law. With a total of 36 lawyers across its offices, the Media department is one of SKW Schwarz’s largest specialist area and focuses on film & TV, gaming, music, press & publishing, and advertising. In 2016, SKW Schwarz was named “Law Firm of the Year for Media and Technology” at the JUVE Awards.
