AI-related provisions in Cast- and Crew Agreements

New requirements for drafting Cast and Crew agreements

The use of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) in fictional and non-fictional productions is standard practice. AI-based systems are used throughout the entire production and distribution cycle. Examples range from translation tools and AI-assisted image and sound editing to the generating enerate text, images, voices, music or entire scenes. At the same time, AI training is becoming increasingly relevant.

These technological developments are accompanied by legally relevant issues – in particular in the areas of copyright, personality rights, and data protection law. Initial court decisions state the need for legal answers to the practical possibilities of AI use.

Against this backdrop, a central question arises for film producers: Are existing Cast and Crew agreement templates still up to date in view of the use of artificial intelligence?

Our new whitepaper “AI-related provisions in Cast and Crew Agreements” provides an overview of the need for adjustments and presents practice-oriented solutions for modern agreement drafting.
