Expanded duty to provide information about online food offerings

The German Food Information Regulation (Lebensmittel-Informationsverordnung, LMIV), in place since 13.12.2014, includes numerous labelling obligations for vendors of foodstuffs and catering services in the B2C distance selling segment.

Practical tip: Online traders offering gourmet products, nutritional supplements or other foodstuffs to consumers should familiarize themselves quickly with the new requirements and be sure to implement them carefully in their online offering. Failure to do so could result in expensive written warnings.
