Clearing Rights for Film and TV

Scripts inspired by real events, a Warhol poster in the background, or a protagonist humming a Robbie Williams song – audiovisual productions can involve a wide range of rights issues that are not always immediately apparent. Thorough rights clearance is therefore essential to avoid costly and time-consuming legal pitfalls.

From 8 to 10 October 2026, the Erich Pommer Institut (EPI) will bring together media professionals from across Europe for the workshop “Clearing Rights for Film and TV” in Berlin. Our Counsel Johanna Weiß will be among the industry experts sharing her expertise and practical insights.

Johanna advises press and book publishers as well as film production companies on legal compliance and rights clearance, helping them identify and address potential legal issues before publication or release.

The workshop provides a comprehensive overview of strategies for clearing rights and offers practical guidance on navigating the legal complexities of film and television productions.
