SKW Schwarz strengthens Hamburg team with additional transport & logistics experts

SKW Schwarz strengthens its Transport & Logistics division with Dr. Philipp C. Hartmann as a partner. The certified expert in transport and shipping law will join the firm in January 2024 together with an associate from Uhsadel Rechtsanwälte.

Philipp C. Hartmann will work together with Hamburg partner Dr. Niels Witt to further expand the focus area, particularly with regard to the rapidly advancing digitalization of the transport and logistics industry.

Philipp C. Hartmann has specialized in advising and representing clients in court in transport and forwarding law, maritime law and the corresponding insurance law since the beginning of his legal career in 2007. In 2009, he became a partner in the law firm Scheer und Hartmann, which merged with Uhsadel Rechtsanwälte in 2015. Philipp Hartmann's clients include global logistics companies, warehouse keepers and carriers as well as large insurance companies and underwriters. The specialist lawyer for transport and forwarding law has been consistently named among Germany's best lawyers for transport law in the Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers ranking since 2019.

Niels Witt said:
"Effective legal advice in the transport & logistics sector today requires knowledge in numerous areas of law. At SKW Schwarz, we bring both wide-ranging expertise and specialization to the table. With Philipp Hartmann, we are bringing another proven expert in the transport and logistics sector on board, who will also leverage many synergies with our leading IT and data protection practice in terms of modern, forward-looking legal advice. We are delighted that he is joining us."

Philipp C. Hartmann adds on his move:
"SKW Schwarz has decades of experience in the transportation & logistics sector and a particularly powerful, Germany-wide team in the IT and digital business sector. The firm is therefore ideally placed to provide clients with the best possible advice on digitalization in the transport & logistics sector, including the increasing use of AI, and to represent them in court."

With the new additions, SKW Schwarz now has five specialized lawyers in the areas of transport & logistics, trade and insurance law at its Hamburg office. With over 40 experts, the IT & Digital Business department has a nationwide presence and is particularly valued for its innovative and sustainable solutions.
