JUVE Awards 2016: SKW Schwarz is “Law Firm of the Year for Media and Technology”

SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte is "Law Firm of the Year for Media and Technology 2016." Awarded by JUVE legal publishing house, the prize was presented at Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main on Thursday, October 27, 2016. The JUVE Awards are considered the most prestigious industry awards in the German legal market.

“SKW is on the digital fast lane,” JUVE stated as one of the reasons for giving the award to SKW Schwarz. “In a market in which know-how in digitalization issues is becoming a key added value, SKW has left competitors behind in more than one respect lately.” The editorial board also praised the law firm for covering “multi-layered media law in its entirety.”

“The award is an excellent recognition of our strategic focus on digital media and the work of the entire team over the past few months,” said Dr. Andreas Peschel-Mehner, Head of the Media & Entertainment Law division at SKW Schwarz. “In all of our advisory fields, ranging from press to publishing houses to film and TV, and to gaming and music, we are clearly focusing on digitalization and are increasingly orienting our practice internationally. We are delighted to see that the significant momentum we have experienced in our work is rewarded in the market.”

The JUVE Awards recognize law firms and legal departments in a total of 18 categories for their successful development over the past year. Award winners are selected on the basis of extensive research carried out by the JUVE editorial board, with several thousand lawyers, in-house counsel, and judges being surveyed.
In 2011 and 2015, SKW Schwarz had already been one of the five nominees in the Media category and received the award as “Law Firm of the Year for Information Technology” in 2011.

The SKW Schwarz Media & Entertainment division is one of Germany’s largest media law practices with 30 specialized lawyers. For years, it has been considered a leader in contract law and copyright law. It has increasingly established itself in transaction and financing advice, as well as in litigation in the media sector. Especially pronounced is its interface to the IT practice, which benefits clients with digital business.
