120 international lawyers, 11 exciting panels and best autumn weather in Berlin: The AIJA Seminar on Life Sciences/Healthcare, Arbitration and Public Procurement last week was a great success. We are very pleased to have been able to support the event as Gold Sponsor.
Our lawyer Christina Kufer moderated the panel "(Medical) Cannabis - one plant and a lot of legal questions" with participants from the cannabis industry and legal profession. The existing legal challenges for startups, whether in advertising, public tendering or regulatory issues, became particularly clear ("It's a legal nightmare!"). Participants also took a look at the latest market trends and planned cannabis legalizations: In Germany, the eagerly awaited consultation process has been underway since summer 2022 in line with the plans of the traffic light coalition; Switzerland launched a pilot project with scientific support in August; and in the US, President Biden announced pardons for those convicted of cannabis possession and relaxations in drug policy last Friday. So it remains exciting to see what business opportunities will open up for companies and what new legal challenges this will bring!
