SKW Schwarz brings another partner into the IP team

SKW Schwarz is strengthening its Intellectual Property department with Dr. Daniel Kendziur. The 43-year-old will join the Munich office as a partner on May 1, 2024. With this new addition, the law firm, which focuses on innovation and future-oriented topics, is further expanding its expertise in the strategically important area of IP at the interface to IT, media and healthcare / life sciences.

Daniel Kendziur advises clients on all legal issues relating to intellectual property with a focus on product regulation and product labeling law. His core competencies lie in competition and trademark law. He also represents clients in copyright disputes and in the protection and defense of designs. He has special knowledge in the area of food and plant variety protection law. His wide-ranging industry experience includes technology companies, media, healthcare and automotive. He also has many years of experience in industry associations.

Daniel Kendziur began his career as a lawyer at DLA Piper in 2010 and moved to Simmons & Simmons in 2013, where he was made partner in 2018. He gained international experience, not least through positions in New York, San Diego and Milan.

Oliver Stöckel, Head of Intellectual Property at SKW Schwarz, comments:

"The protection of intellectual property in the digital world is known to be one of the great challenges of our day. As a law firm, we specialized in this very early on and combine expert knowledge from all relevant areas of law with industry know-how and technological expertise. Daniel Kendziur fits perfectly into our team with his experience at the interface of IP, IT, media and healthcare / life sciences. We are very pleased that he is joining us."

Daniel Kendziur said:

"With an advisory focus on digitalization and AI issues, an excellent international network and a particular commitment to client proximity, SKW Schwarz offers exactly the right platform for me. I am very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues."

SKW Schwarz last strengthened its IP/IT practice at the beginning of 2024 with the addition of Jan-Dierk Schaal and in summer 2023 with Rembert Niebel. Together with Daniel Kendziur and the partner appointments of Christoph Wiegand and Stefan Peintinger from the firm's own ranks, the IP department has grown by five new partners in the last twelve months. The firm has a total of around 60 lawyers in the nationwide IP and IT & Digital Business departments. In 2023, JUVE Verlag named SKW Schwarz "Law Firm of the Year for Trademark and Competition Law".
