Dr. Alexander Schmid-Lossberg, Head of Corporate Human Resources of Axel Springer SE until the end of 2017, joined SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte at its Berlin office at the beginning of 2018. The 58-year-old reinforces the firm’s employment law practice as a partner and, in addition to collective labor law, will particularly focus on digitization in the professional environment.

Alexander Schmid-Lossberg had been Head of Corporate Human Resources at Axel Springer SE since 2008. From 1989 to 1995, he worked at Axel Springer AG, at the end as Head of Human Resources in Berlin. In 1995, he joined KBC Manufaktur Koechlin, Baumgartner & Cie. in Lörrach as Chairman of the Executive Board and Labor Relations Director. In the subsequent years, he worked as Director of Human Resources at pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche in Basle and as Executive Vice President Human Resources and Legal Affairs at logistics company Kuehne & Nagel in Switzerland, before returning to Axel Springer in 2008.
Alexander Schmid-Lossberg is Chairman of the Board of the Hamburg Media School Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Humanities Centers in Berlin.
With the addition of Alexander Schmid-Lossberg, SKW Schwarz’s employment law practice now includes eight partners and five lawyers in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, and Munich. Previously, Bettina-Axenia Bugus had joined the practice as a partner in Hamburg in July 2017.
