As part of the Munich Film Festival, SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte, the Embassy of Canada, and the Ontario International – Munich Trade & Investment Office organized an exclusive industry event at the offices of SKW Schwarz on July 3, 2018. Following last year’s highly successful opening event featuring German/Canadian film co-productions, some thirty attendees this year discussed the production of animated films in Canada and the relevant funding opportunities.
After welcome addresses by Julia Pracht, Economic Advisor, Ontario International – Munich Trade & Investment Office, Claudia Seeber, Trade Commissioner, Embassy of Canada, and Anna von Busse, LL.M., Head of Business Development & Marketing, SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte, the structures of Canadian funding opportunities for (animated) film co-productions from a German perspective were presented by Tania Reichert-Facilides, CEO Freebird Pictures. This demonstrated the efforts Germany has to make to remain internationally competitive as a production site. Dan Krech, Managing Director of Awesometown Entertainment, who was visiting from Toronto specifically for this event, then reported on the work on the animated film “TABALUGA” and the advantages Canada offers for film productions.
After the presentations, the attendees took the opportunity to ask questions and to discuss details with the speakers and SKW Schwarz lawyers.
