Effective December 1, 2018, Dr. Andreas Bareiss will join the management team of Gaumont’s German division as Senior Vice President Business Affairs – a post that he will hold in addition to his work as a lawyer at the firm of SKW Schwarz.
Counting more than 900 movies, the world’s oldest continuously operating film studio owns one of the largest French film catalogues that includes well-known motion picture titles such as “The Untouchables,” “The Fifth Element,” or “La Boum” and stands for successful international streaming series such as “Narcos” and others.
Gaumont is currently producing the first season of the great German antique drama “The Barbarians” for Netflix. TV events and movie productions are in the pipeline. The German Gaumont division did not start operating until the summer of this year.
“We are very pleased that, after producer Andreas Bareiss, a second Andreas Bareiss, no relation by the way, is reinforcing our team with his expertise in the national and international movie and series business,” said Gaumont head Sabine de Mardt.
“Our Partner’s step to now also work in the operative production business is consistent against the backdrop of his resume and shows how deeply rooted our firm is in the media sector. Congratulations on his decision,” said Dr. Martin Diesbach, Head of Media & Entertainment at SKW Schwarz.
Bareiss graduated in law and film production. He is a member of the board of the Franco-German Film Academy and continues to head the Film Law practice at SKW Schwarz’s capital city office.
