SKW Schwarz participated in Europe-wide study on the processing of special categories of personal data for research purposes under the GDPR
The GDPR places high demands on the processing of special categories of personal data, such as health data. However, the GDPR also contains an opening clause, allowing Member States to regulate processing of such data via national laws for scientific or historical research purposes, within the scope of the GDPR.

Our Dutch peers at Kennedy Van der Laan carried out a Europe-wide survey to compare these special national laws.
In this context, we examined the legal situation in Germany under the Federal Data Protection Act (which is not so new anymore) and submitted our results.
The study is available here.
Additional inquiries may be addressed to Dr. Matthias Orthwein and Dr. Stefan Peintinger. SKW Schwarz will also gladly assist you in processing special categories of personal data in compliance with data protection laws.
