SKW Schwarz advises publisher Joachim Groh on the sale of Groh publishing house

Publisher Joachim Groh sold Groh publishing house to publishing group Droemer Knaur effective January 1, 2018. The acquisition is subject to approval by the German Federal Cartel Office.  Groh publishing house, founded in 1928 and based in Germering, Germany, specializes in gift books, calendars, and non-book products on topics such as wishes, friendship, and joie de vivre. The Germering site will continue to be in operation after the takeover. Publisher Joachim Groh will stay on at the publishing house until at least the end of 2018.

Munich-based publishing group Droemer Knaur combines several publishing brands under one roof (including Droemer, Knaur and Pattloch). The group is wholly owned by Holtzbrinck publishing group and, with revenues of EUR 58.2 million (2016), is ranked no. 26 in the buchreport listing of the “100 largest book publishers.”

SKW Schwarz has been advising publisher Joachim Groh and Groh publishing house for many years in matters of civil law, media law, and publishing law.
