The chair of Prof. Dr. Georg Borges of Saarland University and the IT lawyers of SKW Schwarz organized a seminar at the firm’s Frankfurt office on August 14, 2018. The seminar dealt with current topics of IT law including data protection, e-commerce, and liability issues related with autonomous systems.
Students, doctoral candidates, and scientific staff of Saarland University played a key role in holding the seminar by giving lectures on the individual topics. The subsequent discussions with the legal professionals reviewed the effects of students’ scientific views on application in practice and any practical experiences made relating to these topics.
At the end of the full-day seminar, sufficient time was left for networking between lawyers and the university’s seminar attendees.
On behalf of all Frankfurt-based SKW Schwarz lawyers, SKW Schwarz Partner Dr. Oliver Hornung thanked the attendees for organizing and holding the extremely successful seminar and said: “We look forward to a repeat next year!” Dr. Matthias Orthwein, SKW Schwarz Partner in Munich and Head of the IT & Digital Business department at SKW Schwarz, added: “SKW Schwarz attaches great importance to close connection with legal research and teaching as well as to lively exchanges with young lawyers. In addition to the continued cooperation with the chair of Prof. Borges, we are therefore scheduling similar activities with other law institutes.” Next year, for example, a joint seminar will also be held with the chair of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kühling, LL.M. at Regensburg University. We are looking forward to another successful event!
