“Breaking Down the Guilds:” Eighty guests join discussion at the SKW Schwarz Film Law Workshop

The SKW Schwarz Film Law Workshop in Munich on June 12, 2018 was dedicated to the topic of U.S. Guilds. Some eighty attendees learned more about the U.S. film unions SAG, WGA, and DGA by an international panel of experts. Speakers included Shardell Cavaliere, former Payroll Executive of Los Angeles-based Cast & Crew, U.S. attorney Jennifer Ann Elmore, in-house counsel at Red Arrow Studios, Munich, Reno Antoniades and Carrie Finlay, Partner and Associate at Lee & Thompson LLP, London, and Katja Kessler, legal counsel at Constantin Film. Following the presentations, experts and attendees discussed a number of practical issues in a panel moderated by SKW Schwarz Partner Dr. Martin Diesbach.

“Although U.S. Guilds are becoming increasingly relevant for many players in the international film business, the topic has hardly been addressed in Germany to date,” said Dr. Diesbach. “Our event aimed at offering an introduction. We were particularly pleased with the highly positive response from the participants.”
