Georg Wallraf to become Of Counsel at SKW Schwarz
Georg Wallraf, General Counsel of the press group Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt for many years, is to become Of Counsel to the law firm SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte. As of 1 October 2010, Georg Wallraf, 58, will strengthen the field of press, copyright and publication rights at the Munich office.
Georg Wallraf has worked as an attorney, later as general counsel and head of the Law and Personnel division, for Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt since 1983. Since 1981 he has been editor in chief and then also co-publisher of the renowned technical journal AfP – a journal for all legislation governing the media. In addition, he publishes the AfP practice series at Otto Schmidt. Besides his legal advisory activity, he is an active member of many professional and journalistic organizations. For instance, he is a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Verlagsjustiziare (German Publishers’ Attorneys Association) since the mid-1980s and its Chairman since 1995. Furthermore, he is also a member of the German Press Council, the Studienkreis für Presserecht und Pressefreiheit (German Study Group for Press Law and Press Freedom), the VDZ (Verband Deutscher Zeitschriftenverleger) Legal Affairs Committee and the collective-bargaining committee of the vzvnrw.
