SKW Schwarz advises Schörghuber Corporate Group
The law firm SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte has provided consultation services to the group Schörghuber Unternehmensgruppe upon the sale of its South African hotels, namely the Westin Grand Cape Town, as well as the Arabella Western Cape Hotel & Spa, a Luxury Collection hotel, along with the associated Arabella Golf Estate near Hermanus.
The Hospitality Property Fund, a listed real estate fund specialized in hotel real estate and based in Johannesburg, South Africa, shall be the new owner of both of these 5-star establishments. Its portfolio includes 24 properties in South Africa. It is also taking over the license and operations of Paulaner Bräuhaus, situated in Cape Town.
Schörghuber Unternehmensgruppe, founded in 1954 in Munich, is active in the hotels, aircraft leasing, beverages, and construction & real estate sectors in Germany and abroad. The Hotels division, with the management company Arabella Hospitality Group, operates 43 hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Majorca and South Africa, in cooperation with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. With this sale, Schörghuber Unternehmensgruppe is ending its hotel activities in South Africa and will now concentrate on the development of its own hotel real estate in the European core markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Majorca.
