SKW Schwarz advises the management team of the European sites of Midway group
Led by Dr. Matthias Nordmann, a team of SKW Schwarz lawyers has advised the management teams of the European Midway companies in a management buy-out of the German part of the group as well as the English/French part.
In 1958 Midway was established as a manufacturer of entertainment electronics. Later, the company made its mark with the first arcade game and licensed games like “Space Invaders” and “Pac Man”. Another successful product was “Mortal Kombat”. In February of 2009 Midway had to declare its insolvency in the USA and applied for creditor protection under chapter 11 of the US-bankruptcy Code. Essential assets of the insolvent Midway group had already been purchased by Warner in July 2009.
Midway Games GmbH that was bought by the German management henceforth trades under the name “F&F Distribution” and will keep on operating in the area of the distribution of interactive entertainment-products as well as a service provider for game manufacturers and game publishers in Germany. Midway Games Ltd. and Midway Games SAS have changed their company names to Tradewest Games following an acquisition of the rights in the famous North American brand “Tradewest
