• 2001 Professional activity in the IP practice of a large international law firm based in Menlo Park, California, USA
• 2000 Position in the Directorate General for Trade Policy of the European Commission in Brussels
• 1998 to 2002 Doctorate at the Hamburg-based Max Planck Institute for foreign and international private law, thesis dealing with US warranty law.
